Stravinsky – Histoire du Soldat and Renard

Oakland Opera Theater’s double bill of musical works by Stravinsky also included a performance of his Pastorale, sung by soprano Kimarie Torre. The libretto to Histoire du Soldat was updated by Rebecca Lenkewicz and set in present-day Irag. Scored for 7 musicians with notoriously difficult parts. The comic one-act opera Renard, with libretto by Robert Craft and Stravinsky, features a rooster, a lady fox, a cat, and a goat. Choreography by Shannon Gaines. Stage direction by Tom Dean.
